lol, if you mean it sucks have to agree

I also have to agree. It was quite interesting in the beginning of the 1st season. Then lots of meaningless characters joined then the plot got scattered. I don't even know the aim of the plot or the mc anymore smh

Why are so many of these "barely animated still image" style things so common in China? Makes it so hard to sift through and find actually well animated shows from there. Doesn't help that this show also seems to be voice acted with a bad microphone in a cramped wash-room or something... yeesh. >_<;

Short answer: It's cheaper, faster, and performs the same end goal of getting more people to visit the sites that host both comics and their `animated` form.

Comprehensive answer: You must understand how the comics/anime industry works in China. There's big platforms like Bilibili which provide aggregate services for comics. You'll find a LOT of COLOR comics/manhua there. If they gain a lot of popularity, but insufficient to warrant a full-on anime remake, it's plainly cheaper and faster to just slightly animate the color-drawn source material, instead of getting a whole animation studio to make an anime from scratch. This animation then gets published on the same site as the comics, with its role to simply get more site traction. Given that less resources must be funneled into a single project, it means more projects can be pursued - a policy of quantity over quality.

This format is also easier to share on social media, and its more appreciated by different demographics ( anime lovers ). So while it will never win any awards, it's the most bussiness-sensible approach, and quite clever in its way of managing resources, to attain the goal of increasing the viewer traction and retention on big sites.

Don't get me wrong, it's still shit quality pseudo-anime, and its source material is bad as well. Go watch better stuff.

who dafuq makes this and thinks this will make money

TaliZorah2311 • 1 year ago

you are wrong about one thing ..at least thats what i believe.. making money is not the purpose of these types of animations(if i can even loosely call them that), i believe the purpose is to fish for audiences for the novel its based on and eventually get a bigger budget for a real animation. its a sh1tty practice and i hate it but thats the extent of chinese marketing mentality, they take their customers for fools and have no respect

Cr Zero • 1 year ago

really? experimenting with so much resources? that seems unlikely... but the idea is enticing

TaliZorah2311 • 1 year ago

well i cant know for sure but my opinion is based on observation of their products, i pretty much watch everything good or bad ..also i have some knowledge about marketing
